So as people may or may not have noticed, I didn’t really do any blogging while we were on our little bicycle jaunt.
I did intend to. Although the bike didn’t do anything as wacky as get itself trapped in a gate like our donkey, lots of rather interesting things happened during that 2000km.
Even without the animals, we had great days, challenging days, things went wrong, and we had a few extremely weird and wacky experiences. So it wasn’t for lack of material that I didn’t write…
At first, I was too damn tired. Every night, my head ached from dehydration- perhaps as much due to copious quantities of beer consumption (to get rid of lactic acid of course!) as cycling. On longer trail days, I’ll know it’s been a bit much when I can feel my body becoming all fragile and feverish-that feeling of utter exhaustion.
So that was pretty much the state of things for the first week or so on the bike.
But now, I seem to have a bit of a block when it comes to blogging of our travels. Truth be told, I would love to write a book when we get back- a big juicy tell-all tale of our journey on the BNT. And I am worried that if I blog it all now- where we’ve been, who we met, how the bubs went, etc I’ll feel like it’s already done and will be loath to sit down and do it all over again.
Probably a pretty poor excuse to justify not writing blogs, but it’s the one I’m going with for now. But I love writing more generalist articles. So here is officially the laziest blog post ever:
Cooktown to Biggenden in 20 or so pictures !
Weird knob formation near Gunnawarra.
Pioneer’s grave near Wairuna Station.
A little oasis somewhere near Collinsville…
